As New Year's day gets closer and closer volunteers work hard to complete beautiful floats for the Rose Parade. Watch this video to see the hard work put in to the 2019 Rose Parade Donate Life float. This float is titled “Rhythm of the Heart”.
Every inch of the parade float has to be covered in flowers or other natural materials. Many floats have moving elements also. It takes an estimated 60 volunteers working 10 hours a day for 10 days to complete a Rose Parade float.
Building a float for the Rose Parade takes a lot of hard work and many volunteers, so we decided to help out. We volunteered at the Burbank Rose Float and got an inside look at the hard work going in to the Burbank Rose Parade floats. This year the Burbank float is titled "Stompin' Good Time"
The City of Burbank’s float entry shows that when friends come together to play music, they create “The Melody of Life” and can have a “Stompin’ Good Time” doing it. This is Burbank’s 87th entry into the 130th annual Rose Parade held on Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 in Pasadena, California.
We arrived during Deco-Week, December 26-31. At this time the float is almost fully painted and flowers are starting to be put on the float.
The final paint coats are applied before the flowers are put on and water vials are filled to keep the flowers fresh.
Off to the side the animals are being decorated with flowers and other natural materials.
The characters are placed on the float and the float is decorated with more natural materials.
The final float judging is taking place Dec 31. You can watch the 2019 Rose Parade live Jan. 1 2019 at 8:00 AM PST on ABC, NBC, Univision, HGTV, Sky Link TV , Hallmark Channel, RFD TV, and KTLA.
