VidCon 2018 was my first VidCon, and it was amazing. This blog will be covering my favorite parts of VidCon, and what I did.
DAY 1- I arrived at VidCon on the first day. I went to registration, which had no line at 10:00 in the morning. They had some cute candy theme bags, with brands like Twix, and m&m's. My group got their badges and went off to enter the convention center. There was a large line to scan your RFID wristband and enter the area. The line went by surprisingly fast, so we waited in the line for no more than 10 minutes.
Once we scanned our wristbands, we went off to the Expo Hall. There was a large amount of businesses that had set up activities there. Gushers had an area where you could paint your hand, and Hurbert's Lemonade had a lounge area, complete with a ball pit and a claw machine.
After having time to explore the booths, we went off to our first show. We figured out that most of the shows took place in the back of the expo hall, so we didn't have to walk far. After the show, we went off to explore more of the expo hall. There are many freebies at almost all booths. Hurbert's was handing packs of scented markers, and Gusher's was giving out some free candy. We continued our day looking at booths, and watching shows.
DAY 2- We took an Uber to VidCon, and arrived at opening. The line went faster than day 1, and soon we were in the convention center and exploring once again. The panels are always nice to go to, but there was one that was a little slow, so we went off to do other things. There was a giant inflatable course and a Nerf gun arena. We did both of those and they were both very fun. We attended some meet and greets and got some food. On the topic of food options, there were many. There was a small food court in the convention center, and one in the hotel right next to the convention center. And of course there were several food trucks outside also. The food trucks had reasonable prices, as did everything else there. You could sit at some benches while you ate or watch a concert.
DAY 3-FINAL DAY- On the final day we mostly took a lost look at all the booths and bought our last things. It was sad to see everything be packed up. As one member of a booth said, "It's like summer camp. I don't want it to end". But end it did, on a great note. We got to watch an exclusive screening of Mamma Mia 2, which was a great movie. Then, we all headed home, discussing how we would love to return next year. We were all pleasantly surprised at how organized the whole convention was. It was nice looking back at all the pictures we had taken, I think some great memories were made. Be sure to follow us on twitter @ConventionNewz, and see you next time!
